Spanish Language Fair
We are pleased to announce the first Spanish Language Fair at Dixie State University (DSU). This annual event is sponsored by DSU’s Division of Humanities and its Spanish Program to offer Southern Utah K-12 schools a venue to highlight students’ achievements in the acquisition of Spanish as a second language.
The Spanish Fair is truly a common effort. We have a debt of gratitude with Brigham Young University’s Department of Spanish and Portuguese that generously authorized us to use the materials contained in BYU’s Language Fair website. We give special thanks to Prof. Nieves Pérez Knapp for her words of encouragement while planning was in its initial stages; to Prof. James Taylor, creator of many of the activities and site content, for enthusiastically sharing them with us. We acknowledge the contributions of Washington County School District’s teachers for organizing specific sections of Latinolandia and preparing their students for the Spanish Language Skills Competition.
We hope that the these efforts will help promote the learning of languages and culture in Southern Utah, thus enhancing students’ humanistic perspective of their world, and honing of communication skills to face the demand of a global economy.
